Default Anti-gun Software - better read this!

This post is fairly lengthy but please take a few minutes and check it out. See what we' re up against. What if anything can be done about the corporate giants undertaking this underhanded activity to further their bias against guns?
This is very disturbing.

It appears there is strong anti-gun bias within SRA - Symantec' s
World Headquarters
Symantec Corporation
20330 Stevens Creek Blvd. Cupertino, CA 95014
tel +1 408 517 8000
www.symantec.com

I have not been able to confirm this because I don' t have the sofware but if anyone has this software - try it.

It is believed Symantec' s " Internet Security" sofware which includes firewall with parental controls allowing to block unwanted websites, containing pornography, violence, and other material inappropriate for children, when installed and used in it' s default' configuration the " weapons" category automatically blocks the follwoing web sites;

http://www.keepandbeararms.com - a web site with political news devoted to the right to keep and bear arms;
http://www.concealcarry.org/ Concealed Carry of Illinois, Inc.
http://www.wagc.com/ Women against gun control

http://licgweb.dos.state.fl.us/weapons/index.html : FL Department of State' swebsite with info about concealed carry statues.

Despite being characterized as " weapons" , most of the websites do not contain any depiction or discussion of any firearms, and fully devoted to politics of Second Amendment, right of the citizen to self-defense, study of crime statistics, etc., and some of them are actually (the last two in the list above) the official web sites of state agencies and law enforcement!

The Second Amendment Foundation is devoted to the preservation of the Second Amendment, as well as Jews for Preservation of Firearms Ownership. Among the blocked is the web site of Prof. John Lott Jr., the author of scientific research on the influence of lawful firearms ownership on crime rates, the author of the books ;

More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun-Control Laws (Studies in Law and Economics (Chicago, Ill.).

The Bias Against Guns: Why Almost Everything You' ve Heard About Gun Control Is Wrong.

Here is a list of the anti-gun sites that are allowed;

As a Canadian this really bothers me. I' m sure it is likely to bother all my American counterparts even more. gg

Those settings are a sort of autopilot for folks who don' t want their kids to surf firearms related sites . They are based on software that looks for ANY mention of content that whiners may find objectionable . Symantec sucks anyway , don' t use them if that' s how they feel about guns .

I' m currently running Norton Internet Security(by Symantec) and can' t even find a parental control feature. Maybe it has it and I just didn' t install it but on my current configuration it aint there. Most of the parental controls that I' ve seen just filter out porn and other " potentially harmful" sites, but not anything about guns. Now you' ve gotten me curious, I' ll have to play with it and see if I can find that feature.

Appearantly I didn' t install that feature. Since I' m a big boy and I' m the only one that uses this computer I didn' t think it neccassary. As soon as I remember what I did with the disc, I' ll install it and see what happens.
