RE: SLUG GUNS

I bought my 870 express over 20 years ago, when rifled barrels were illegal in NY for hunting deer. It came with a 20" smooth bore and a 28" VR barrel with screw in rem chokes. That was my first and only shotgun. Love it for deer and turkey, see no need to change.

a wal-mart beretta is not a real beretta. it is lesser quality just like every other gun they sell.

Anyway, the Mossberg and Marlin are $200 guns. they may to " good" shooters but not fast shooters. the actions are rough, metal cheap, just not quality.
Yeah right. If you want to see cheap look inside your beloved 870. You can still see Budweiser written on some of the parts since most are made out of recycled beer cans.

Lesser price does not always equate to lesser quality. Get a grip.

You know guys, a friend of mine and I traded guns for a tough day of duck hunting. He has that berretta walmart special and I had the 1187. Thats pretty nice gun guys. I don' t like how you have to load, but I rapid fired that bad boy all day on sea ducks. I was thinking about getting one and keeping my 1187 primer looking new. Then figured I had enough shotguns.

i beleive i have a grip, thanks.
the wally world 870' s are not the same 870' s that you get at speciality stores either. that' s fine if you don' t beleive me, go ahead and keep being your guns their, sam walton' s family needs the money.
the fact of the matter is that wal mart gets factory seconds. thats not meaning that the gun has a major problem, it' s saying that their may be a little flaw on the stock, or metal or such.
I work at a gun shop and our wholesaler and manufactorer tell us, flat out, they are not the same guns. that, along with the fact that wally sometimes buy in huge bulk is why the prices are cheaper.
the cans i drink beer out of are aluminum not steel, sorry.
I am by no means a huge reimington fan, i like the 870 pump gun better than other makes of pumps.

Outdoorsman, Had an 870 with rifled barrel, doesn' t compare to marlin and not even close to Browning Abolt!Proven fact bolt action guns are the most accurate action, thats why 90% of all rifles are bolt. And as far as fast shooting bolts can be worked very fast and efficiently.I got this same kind of reaction at hunting camp when I showed up using a Bolt action, but dead deer every year with one shot kills as quieted most skeptics:DAs far as cost of an Abolt Browning I found mine for $400.Marlin slugmaster512 is a good quality gun with a heavey bull barrel for the money

does your bolts at least cloverleaf at 100yds? if so it looks like my pump and auto compare with your bolt.
by the way, i was not knocking the browning abolt slug, eventhough I don' t care for brownings. as i said they are expensive if you find someone selling one.
I am aware that bolts can be worked fast, but not as fast as a pump or auto. it all depends on what kind if hunting area you will be in. If I' m in the timber i would want a pump or auto. If you field hunt then maybe a bolt will suit you, not me. if for some reason you miss you first shot you will have a higher chance if getting pegged by the noise of the bolt than you would with a pump or auto. the recoil in the pump helps cycle the action faster.

If you say so. But I know for a fact that a Savage is a Savage no matter where you buy it and it will shoot as good or better than most guns available at any cost. Same with a Mossberg and a Marlin so your lower price equals lower quality theory is not proving true.

I have the Remington 1100 w/cantilevered scope mount & the 870 with rifled choke tube and they each have their own special use and get the job done.
