Here in NC we have some hunting clubs that run dogs and they use buckshot alot. Many deer have been taken with the 00 and 000 buck shot.

we have beat this horse to death several times.
buckshot is like rifles,they make all different ones.some states don' t allow buckshot,others do.

as for taking deer or hogs with buckshot,I have taken,in excess of 200 deer and several 100 hogs in my life.I would say 75% of both were with buckshot.so I will say;buckshot is deadly and has it' s place.[:-][8D]

.22 mag is good for targets and varmits
buckshot is good for intruders

I heard a colorado poacher say that the 22mag was his favorite rifle for elk. He would shoot them in the lungs and they would just stand there because they didn' t even know they was hit. He' d come back later and they would be dead. He also liked the lack of noise from the 22mag compared to other rifles. I told him he was sorry and I didn' t care to associate with him anymore.

I also know a feller that is a advid poacher that thinks the 22 hornet is great. But only head shots. Ok, back to my original survival scenio. But this time, 22Mag vs. compound bow. I know I would pick the compound bow. Now if a state has it legal. I could care less. Think it stupid, but don' t care as long as no rules for me.

Think about it, most kids including myself, dreamed of shooting monster guns at deer. Not 22Mags. So I would be real surprised if people used. I wouldn' t. I did kill this nice whitetail that had 4 22LR bullets near its hind.. It was all healed over from the years.
