RE: Scope Reccomendations for Reminton 700
Thanks for the info so far. This is a gun I inherited from my grandfather years and years ago so I didn' t buy it, as far as I know i' m the only one who has ever shot it, I think my grandfather won it and never shot it. In the areas I hunt deer I rarely have a shot longer than 300yards. Honestly I don' t hunt groundhogs much anymore, so basically this will be a deer rifle for the majority of the time. I have many other deer rifles, so this is basically just a case of getting bored with my other rifles and wanting to try something new. I know the 6mm has its limitations but in all reality it is nothing more than a .243 beffed up right. I used a savage model99 in .243 for some of the first years I hunted and killed quite a few deer with it. I' ve used all the standard deer calibers, Winchester model 94 in 30-30, Reminton 760 in 30-06, and savage 99 in .243. Now I just want something different. I want to keep my spending around $150 absolutely no more than $200. I have a 4x scope on my 760 gamemaster in 30-06 now and last year I made a heart shot on a doe at 250yds. But 250yds with a 4x scope was a very tough shot. So I know I would like something with the ability to be more powerfull. So any more help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

With what you said, I think I' d opt to save just a little more and get a VXII...probably 4x12x40. I think they are around $275ish... It would to all you need, plus you' d still have the 12power for long range shooting if you ever decide to...(groundhogs, varmints, or whatever).
Whatever you decide on, don' t waste your money on a junk scope.
