I've shot a 458WinMag ... not bad with somewhat tame handloads. The worst was a Sharps in .45-120 with a curved brass butt plate. THAT left a mark! It was loaded with smokeless powder and pillow ticking for a buffer. We called it "shooting a chicken out of the barrel" because it looked like a huge puff of feathers blowing out the end when you touched it off. LOL:D

The worst handgun was a T/C Contender in 375JDJ and HOT handloads. Ouch! I shot it 3 times and my hand went numb. It was far worse than the 500SW that the same guy owns. He owns all of these big guns that I've shot, as a matter of fact, but has started hunting with a 7mm-08. Getting older and wiser, I guess.

I used to have an 835 and I could handle the 3.5's in it. I had a Winchester SX2 and the big shells didn't phase me much out of it. That dern 535 is just so much lighter than the 835! It's crazy what we will put ourselves through to kill a silly bird :p

My Browning upland special kicks like a mule. Short barrel & no recoil pad on te but. I paid over $1300 for this shotgun & I hate to shoot it.

My 870 with 3.5 00 buckshot is pretty dang ruff.

Worst beating I ever took was from a .410 . The stock was short and I'd been deer hunting and all tuned up on my much longer stocked rifle ,I poped up on a running rabbit and bam got the rabbit but the but was about 2" off my shoulder .

Outside of that probably an 1.25 oz slug in a 1200 Winchester , I had cheek bruise from.

I have to say shooting 3" sabots from my Rem 870 is pretty bad. Afterwards, I shot a competition grade .22, and after the first shot I thought it misfired because the crack and the kick were so light after shooting a couple of boxes of slugs.
