Guys I heard some time ago that marlin has come up with a lever action 410 shotgun but I have not read any thing about it, can any one fill me in? How accurate? How much money? Ballistics? In MN the 2 zones I hunt in are rifle but if I ever get a chance to hunt in the southern part of the state it is shotgun or muzzle loader only so I may be in the market for a shotgun that will not rip my arm off but still be effective on deer. I had a A5 with a slug barrel and screw that, I have never in my life shot a gun with that much recoil, it was worse by far than a 300WSM that I sold.
Any answers would be very helpfull.
Thx

not sure it was marlin but I've seen .410 lever actions before but only in 2.5" shells, so because of that, no thanks!
Maybe MN is different from IL, but here in IL I believe we can't use any slugs for deer under 20ga. Which btw if I ever buy another slug gun, or at least if I bought one today it would be that savage bolt action in 20ga. Get yourself a 20ga slug and don't worry about recoil.

The 410 slug will kill deer reliably if you hunt with it like you would a bow. SHORT range and broadside shots. I consider it a serious handicap when compared to muzzleloaders or 12 and 20 Ga shotguns.
I hunt with a 12 ga Marlin 512 Slugmaster and shoot Brenneke 2.75" KO Sabot slugs. The recoil is noticeable but nothing drastic. I don't even feel it when shooting deer, and in general, slug guns are not the ones you shoot a lot at the range. I fire less than 5 shots a year with mine, a couple to check zero and one or two at deer.
I'd find a 12 or 20 Ga gun and shoot 2.75" slugs, or even reduced recoil slugs before I would ever consider a 410. Then theres the muzzleloader option.

Winchester 9410 make a .410 slug gun. I would definitely keep shots under 75 yards with a broadside shot.
I wouldn't want it to be my primary gun but I think it could be alot of fun hunting with a Winchester 9410 .410.
Here this should help you decide, Its a cool read. Hope it Helps.
