Hey - make sure to use that model 70 every now and again !!!
I usually make sure its oiled, but not OVER oiled. What effect does that have on it anyway? Just curious

And if someone has a muzzleloader here's a tip a gun dealer gave me..

Take a cleaning patch apply some oil on it and stick it 1/2 way into the end of { muzzle part of the barrel ] this keeps humidity from messing up your muzzle loader.

Too much oil can flow onto wooden areas and soften the wood over time. Additionally, oil can flow to metal areas, pool, and turn gunky and sticky over time.
