270 questions
Hi folks,
I'm a new owner of a Remington 700 ADL 270..and have a few newbee questions. 1. What is the best round / grain bullet for deer medium sized deer 130-170pounds ? I plan to shoot at ranges between 100-250 yds.. 2. I inherited a whole lot of 270 rounds from a friend..all different grains..Can you over shoot a rifle{ Wear one out from shooting too much} if so..about how many rounds..? 3. In your humble opinion ..what is the best 270 round out there for 300 yd shots at medium sized deer..? thanks, C7 |
Thanks gents...
I have a box of of the 130 silver tipped.. |
The cheapo 130gr federals were shooting the best out of my 270.
Used 150gr nosler partitions on vancouver island monster black bears and it got the job done. 130grainers are the way to go I think, now they have the 130gr TSX if you were ever going after something big. |
I always use the 150 grain. I've killed allot of deer with my 270.

Congrats Chuck. It's a great round. What's it scoped with?
|
only the scope that came with it..a 3 x 9 Remington...looks like any 1 inch scope will fit in it.

The 130-grain bullet works well in my 270-Winchester. You may have to shoot a few different brands of ammo to find the best accuracy for your rifle. My 270-Winchester likes 130-Grain Winchester Supreme Ballistic Silver Tip ammo the best.
I handload for this rifle and my handloads are 140-grain Nosler Accubond bullets. |
yes sir..I got a box of them silver tipped ..I also have about 200 other rounds,,from 100 grain reloads to boxes of 150.Winchester and Federal//
|
My 270 adl likes 130gr Fedeal Fusions.
|
I agree. 130 grain is all you need for deer. Call me cheap but I like remington core lokt for the shooting range and deer lease. Just clean your gun consistently and you won't "out shoot" it.
