I'm not surprised. The day I heard Remington had purchased Marlin I went looking for a stainless guide gun. Found one 3-4 days later. Mine is a late 2007 model.
So we have the pre-64 Winchester and now the pre-08 Marlin.

I think its good and bad. I always thought it made sense for colt, marlin, and many more to get out of the liberal states. But on the other hand, I can't see remington doing marlin product any favors in quality. I am in the market now for another 45-70 stainless.

So, are they shutting down Marlin? Or are they moving production to another facility? I find it hard to believe that the beancounters at Cerberus would halt production of the 336 or the X-7's.

Well I'm glad I bought my .450 guide gun when they first came out. Bummer deal, with remington in the mix it will probably go down hill. I pray that it doesn't. I just picked up a Marlin Model 120 shotgun too. Won't be getting rid of these firarms until I die.

I don't know how I'd classify firing everyone and shutting a plant down. Can they possibly produce the same quality without the people and either re-tooling or moving all the equipment to another facility. Last I checked there isn't anything wrong with my Marlin produced Marlin.

I've been in the market for an XS-7 in 7mm-08 for my son and a 336 in .30-30 for myself... I'm interested to know whether they'll continue production.
And, what's with all the Remmy bashing? I've got four 700's. The 7mm-08 I bought last year and the .243 I bought 4 years ago shoot just as well as my 20+ year old 7mm Rem Mag or my 15+ year old .30-06.
