Sako A7 or Browning X-Bolt
May pick up one of these two rifles this spring and would like to hear some opinions and experiences with either rifle. Rifle will be synthetic stock and stainless steel and will be in either 7mm-08 Rem or .308 Win. Primary use will be whitetail deer hunting.

I think you'd be happy with either. I love the way the X-Bolts feel in my hands, very ergonomic stock that just feels right. The triggers are excellent too. I haven't handled an A7 but I didn't like the ergonomics of the Tikka I had. I think the stocks are pretty similar on the A7 and Tikka. One plus of the A7 is the price and I can guarantee it will shoot. You can pick up an A7 on GB very reasonable.

Hey, I would love to get both but it would likely spell World War 3 in my household! What makes you lean towards the X-Bolt over the A7?

More...........refined !!!
Just "feels" better.
Plus I love the look (Stainless Stalker, but I know "that look" is not for everybody).
Remember: Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
The A7, bolt is smoother though.

Thanks for the response. I like both rifles but after looking at both I would have to agree with you on the refined part. While both rifles feel good in my hands the Browning stock feels better to the touch and the bolt lock release seems better designed. It will likely be May or June before I buy so I have plenty of time to decide.

I really don't have anything to offer on these 2 rifles,But I do have an Sako AV that is as good as any I have ever owned.Had a few of the older A-Bolts loved the guns but hated the triggers.Sorry I could not be more help.Haven't had the chance to fondle either one ...............yet.
