Either will do the job very well. If I were in your shoes I' d look for the make of rifle you want first then decide between the two for caliber. I was tempted to purchase a 300 WSM but the rifle I wanted (Tikka WH) didn' t come in it. Does come in 7mm RM, and .300 Win. Since I already had all the reloadings for the 7mm I stayed with it.

If you can go shoot both with factory loads. That will let your shoulder do the talking. Either will do fine I think for moose and antelope and even up to a full-grown Elk (with proper bullets and good shot placement). You get a little more energy and frontal energy from the .300 but it might be more gun than you really want to shoot a lot. Best to try both and see which one you like.

I have both and they will both do the job . I bought the 7MM Mag or at least my first one back in the 1960' s and at that time they didn' t have any bullets on the market that were worth shooting . The improvement in bullet technology makes either one a good choice in my opinion .

Both are good, I wouldn' t dream of not having either, however, I hunt with the .300 mag most of the time. I just prefer the .308 cal.

Both are good calibers, and should do fine. I think it also depends on what you already have. If you have something similar to one or the other, that would make the choice a little easier. Personally I have a .280, so getting a 7mag wouldn' t gain me much. I' d go for the .300...it would probably be all the gun you' d ever need...for basically any type of hunting.

Both are do-all Lower 48 states cartridges and will work fine for most of Canadian and Alaskan hunting, If you leave out grizzly and brown bear which are the same species. Both have a plethora of bullets available for reloaders and factory ammo is available everywhere, if you stick to the winchester and remington " regular" magnums. The 7mm Mag recoils less, sharper kick. The .300 Mag recoils more, fast push. Both good cartridges and have killed everything in Norht America and a lot in Africa and elsewhere.:D

Both are fine cartridges, you might also look as the 7mm S.T.W. but for moose you would want to hand load. These kritters are big, and tho not nearly as hard to kill as simular size African game, you want penitration. This means heavy bullets with good sectional density. In 7mm you want the 175 grain and in .30 I would go for the 180s. Pick a good bullet as all the power in the world does not make up for bullet failure. I would recomend Federal Premuim if you do not hadn load. Up here in Maine, at my shop Remington CorLoss has gained a bad reputation with my customers, if you can not get the Federal I would go with Winchester.
As for a cartridge for moose, I would go for the .366 D.G.W. , but of the two you mentioned I would select the .300 Winchester on the merrit of the heaver bullets. You will get more recoil and if this is a problem go with the 7 mag and 175 grain slugs and you will be fine.

IVE SHOT BOTH AND IOWN A 7MM. I OBVIOUSLY PREFER THE 7MM. THE 300 HAS TOO MUCH RECOIL AND IS OVER KILL ON MOST ANIMALS. THE 7MM IS EQUAL TO 284. THE 7MM IS AN UP AND COMING CARTRIDGE THAT ALOT OF PEOPLE DONT EVEN CONSIDER BECAUSE OF IGNORANCE.[>:]

Actually any premium 7mm bullet of 140 gr and up work fine on moose and elk.I have killed several moose and elk with the 140gr partition out of both the 7mmrem mag and 7mmstw.Even with a muzzle velocity of 3500fps the 140 gr partitions held together fine and penetrated just as well as heavier partitions.The140gr and up failsafe and barnes x are also fine choices.
