if you do get a scope get a variable or a low fixed power like a 2X if most of your shots are within 50 or 60 yards. i had a fixed 4X on my .454 and i didn't like it becasue it was tough to get on deer that were moving at close range in thicker cover. i liked it when shooting off of the bench at the range but i didn't care to hunt with it. this year i'm going to use the iron sights because most of my shots are within 50 yards. plus, i like the fact that the hand gun is less bulky and easier to tote without the scope. i may eventually put a different scope on it some day.
as Centaur 1 asked, how well do you shoot the gun with iron sights at your normal hunting distances?

I've found that a 1x or 2x scope is darn near as quick to get on target as iron sights. The nice thing about a scope is it puts the sights & target on the same focal plane. My accuracy about doubled from the addition of a scope. Handgun scopes take a little getting used to, but once done you'll wonder how you ever got along without them-especially 49 year old eyes like mine.
