i have a spare weatherby vg in 270 wsm as a backup lr gun. i have always wanted to rebuild the thing for long range shooting, nothing to over the top, but maybe a new drop in stock and a 28 inch poly/canted/offset rifled barrel. since i got some money coming my way i want to know what everyone would do to it. i want to either keep it in 270 wsm or 7mm wsm, i still want it as a backup and most of all i dont want to spend more then $750 cad (about 600 usd) on upgrades. i already have a long range gun but the thing has been acting up lately and i want a backup gun that wont hider me in anyway

the other rifle is in 6.5 wsm, i kinda jumped on that build and it didnt turn out 100% (only a 26 inch barrel). the stock has been giving me some problems to, some time ago i overloaded a casing, broke a extractor and put a crack on the upper support of the thumbhole grip. the stock has been "reminding me" of what i did every time i take it to the range.
