A potential problem with loading a spitzer type bullet in a 30-30 is that the bullet is usually designed to perform at a higher velocity. When you factor in the low operating pressure of the 30-30 and the short barrel of the contender, a standard 170gr 30-30 design bullet would probably give the best results.

I' d go with the .44Mag in that length BBl just because you are in the lenght range most powders for it were designed to burn in. I know there is pistol data for the other 2 rounds but there should be more options in loading for the .44Mag.
