Good gun to start out on. I've had mine for about 2.5 years. I've had it out two deer seasons so far and have taken four deer in four shots. I'm getting 1 inch groups at 100 yards with a Nikon Pro Staff scope 2x7x32, 300gr Barnes Expander MZ bullet with a Crushed Rib sabot, 2 Pyrodex 50gr pellets, and W209 primers. Also easy to clean and maintain....

No not at all. the barrel comes predrilled and taped. I used the CVA mounts so they lined up perfect.

Correct, you have to buy your own bases and rings. If I might suggest a good scope, look at the Nikon Pro Staff 2x7x32 muzzleloader/shotgun sciope. I have 3 of them and they preform great. $125 give or take where ever you find them.
