.30 RAR
#2
I made a post about it earlier this week. Go back to remington's site and download the 2009 catalog. That is the only place they have it so far. Its a 30 cal that is suppose to fit in the R15 and mimic the ballistics of the 308.

Thanks for the post IPSC. Exactly what I was looking for.
Correct me if I'm wrong here but, the .30RAR looks like a .270 Win out to 200 yards and a 30-30 Win between 200 and 300.
I might be off my rocker but I'm thinking if they get enough out in the market and have enough available data that this is going to be the next big thing in AR's.
I'm looking forward to seeing how this goes.

I'm not sure what ballistic chart you're looking at, but, it looks to me like the .30 RAR is vastly superior to the .30-30 at all ranges.
The 125 gr. PSP seems to be about midway in performance between Remington's 130 gr. .270 and 117 gr. .257 Roberts loads. Closer, actually to the .270 than the Bob. That being the case, it ought to make one heckuva good deer cartridge.

I have to be honest I think this is pretty cool and should spur some sales in uppers when they are released.
Unlike the WSSM and WSM cartridges I think the .30RAR will stick around because it really does fill a niche. It turns the millions of AR's out there into hunting rifles.
I may have to get another one.

Thanks for the tip RR. It's a tough call I guess. In my view the WSSM offerings most closely match the .30RAR. I guess it'd come down to figuring out which one would be around the longest. My buddy is seriously considering doing a conversion like this.
I especially like the .25WSSM ballistics.
Any thoughts I should share with my friend?
Thanks
Tom
