Default bought a sako

Hey folks. Wanted to get your opinion on a rifle I purchased.

I was in the market for a used Remington 700 for hunting, and I ended up buying a used Sako l61r 30-06. It was kind of an impulse buy, but I had a lot of input from experienced folks. Everyone said it was about as solid a rifle as one could find.

What are your thoughts? Do you think I went the right direction?

Thanks again for all your help and input. It is greatly appreciated.

A Sako is one fine rifle.I think you did much better getting a used Sako over a new Remington.I' m sure you' ll find the Sako to be extremely accurate.I have one that' s close to 25 years old in 243 and it drives tacks.Buy a high quality scope for it and you' ll be set.The 30-06 is a excellent all around cartridge. You made a good choice.

Great choice on the SAKO.
I wanted one new but didnt think it would shoot twice as good as its brother, the Tikka, So i went with the TIkka and I am satisfied.

Cool. Thanks for the feedback. I was starting to get a mild case of buyers remorse being new at this.

It did come with a scope. Its a 4x Reingold (I think that' s the correct spelling). It is as old as the gun supposedly, maybe mid-80' s?? Anyone know about these scopes? I' m hoping this scope will do for now until I know exactly what I want in a scope.

Also, is there a way to get the manual for an old scope? I need info on sighting in. Specifically, how many clicks per 100yds to adjust, know what I mean? Anyone have info on these scopes, or access to it?

Or, are clicks on the adjustment knobs standard across all scopes?

Thanks again for all your help. You folks really helped me out. Much appreciated.

stogieboy, I never heard of a Riengold scope.Sure it' s not Redfield?Allot of times I buy something and have the same feeling. Did I do right? In your case yes you did.If it' s a Redfield scope it' s a good scope. If it' s a cheap scope save up and buy a good scope.Let us know how it shoots.

Hey Ruger.

Yep, Redfield is what it is. A Redfield 4x. It' s about 10-ish years old though. Any good? Good starting point, maybe?

Thanks for your help!

Yep, will keep you posted.

stogieboy, I kinda figured you were talking about a Redfield scope. They were a great scope back before they went belly up.I can' t speak for the new ones, since I have never owned or even looked at one.In case you need service in the future on that Redfield there is ABO in Miami Florida that still does warranty work on Redfields.Their site is www.abousainc.com .
