What's it worth?(M-1 Carbine)
Hey Guys. I've been thinking about getting rid of my M-1 carbine, but I'm not sure what it's worth.
It was manufactured by Plainfield Arms, has a 4-power scope mounted on it ,and has an M-2 stock as opposed to the M-1 stock. The gun is in very good to excellent condition. Included in this is 3-15 round magazines and 1-30 round magazine.
Thanks for your help.

Plainfield Machine Co.started making the M1 carbinein New Jersey in or about 1965. I believe they closed shop around 1974.Plainfield Machine was first and foremost a machine shop andthey manufactured and contracted to manufacture for other businesses as well.I believe they were established in 1951 but as noted didn't start making the "Plainfield Machine Co." marked M1 till 1965.I believe they didsome (if not all) the manufacturing for the "Millville Ordnance" (MOCO within a banner) in the years before they started to solely produce carbines bearing the name Plainfield Machine.
Plainfield Arms (obviously)was a post WWII commercial manufacture of the M1 Carbine and brings much much less that the USGI version. I'd say it would sell for about $200.00 to $250.00
If it were a USGI M1 Carbine then you would start at about $600.00-$750.00 for a re-arsenal mix master and could go up into the many thousands depending on the condition, manufacturer, original configuration etc...
