Default .243 ammo

looking for opinions on brand/type of ammo everyone uses for deer?

85 gr up, pick one and go hunt, they all work, find one your gun likes and use it.

brand doesn't matter very much, any of them will kill a deer. a properly placed .22 bullet will kill a deer, although i wouldn't recommend that.with that being said, the only bullets that will go through my guns are hornadys. i use a .243 for deer hunting, and i shoot hornady 100 gr. boat tail soft points. they open up a hole this big

I use the cheap stuff. Remington green box 100 gr. pointed soft point core-lokts. They work great. Accurate. Good penetration. One shot. One kill.

Hornady Custom 100 gr BTSP. 3/4" all day long out of a completely stock Remington 700.

I used to use 95gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertips but dont use that gun anymore. They shot great but i hate cleaning up the barrel after shooting the coated Winchester bullets.

I agree, they are as close to turning my .243 into a "deer rifle" as i've found.

what clean up are you talking about? what's wrong with the lublox coating?
