Recoil Pad Glued on, how to remove?
#1
Replacing my standard pad with a recoil reducing limbsavor, removed the screws on the original, but the pad is glued on.
What is the best way of removing the existing pad? They say see a gunsmith.
I'm sure I could rip it off, but its on there, is there a way to deactivate the glue? or to get it off without just tearing it off?

Carefully, take a razor blade, around the base of the pad and the stock start cutting at the glue, once you get in about a 1/4" the whole way around it just start peellingthe padoff the stock, after you get the pad off, you will need to scrape the remainning glue from the wood. If you just try to rip it off, you will probably take chunks of wood from the sides of your stock, I know of no chemical that will break down the glue without damaging the wood. Take your time and you will get it.
