With the talk about the big stores (cabelas and walmart) sending the mom and pop stores out of work.

Some of you said your ok paying more at the small shops.
How much more are you willing to pay.
i try to buy localy but alot of the time the price is just to high.
I just traded my old ford for a chevy done up for offroading. The local guy wants 259 for tires each i can get the same tire online or i think at sams club for 189.99

Then the local shop here in town and the small shop in the next town wanted 600 for a tc triumph. gander mountain wanted 529 plus you get a instore warrenty.

I found the triumph online for 465 from a small shop in florida.

I used to go to Walmart as my budget was limited (very) and I could get firearms related items cheaper. Sunday I went to several gun shops and walmart looking for powder and bullets for my muzzleloaders. The local shops averaged 8% cheaper than Walmart. First time I have seen that.Also, the local walmarts don't sell guns anymore...

from what i was told there all going away from gun sales to much issues with it and not enough money the outdoro area is next when people can not buy gun there ammo sales will drop then all gear will drop

My guess would be that since Wal-mart has such a high turnover in their products, when the prices are going up, they are going to be higher. If the prices were going down, they would be much quicker to lower prices too.

When you buy those tires on line, you have to pay shipping... You also have to pay for mounting/ballanceing and valve stems... My tire guy gives me free rotation on any tires i buy from him. He also cuts me deals on other things too, like fixing my flats, and fixing my flats NOW, not "pick it uptomorrow"... All of that is worth something to me..

I went to a local shop the other day, WAS going to buy a box of 85gr Triple Shocks until I saw the $48 price tag! Midway has them for $28. I few dollars more I don't mind, but not $20!

I do most of my buying for guns and reloading equipment from a local small-town dealer in my hometown. He has always treated me well, and will search the places he uses as suppliers to get me the best deal he can. Sure, he makes a buck or two on it. That's why he's in business. It just doesn't generally pay me to have to drive 70 or more miles to save $10. If he can't get some special order thing I want for what I can get it for myself, I just take care of it on my own.
I agree with DM.... He gives me personal service that the Big Box stores don't.
I' for one, will give this guy my business every time if he comes reasonably close or matches the Big Guy prices. Just how I do it..........

I shoot a matthews, my local shop/matthews dealer, usually has the cheapest prices around. I'm not going to look all over to save 10-20bucks on a $800 bow. his prices are good anyway.

I goto my shop for their knowledge and expertise.

I will gladly pay 10% or 15% more to shop at a shooting store that stocks reloading supplies.At least I could buy then locally rather than drive 300 miles to get powder and primers.On bullets and brass,the shipping will easily make up the difference.

A local firearms store wanted to sell me a Encore Pro Hunter for 1,050.00. I purchased it at Sportman's Warehouse for $800.00. The local firearms store is doing me no favors. Good luck.
