"Learned that in basic training."

As did I. Now you don't have to join the military to learn it. Not sure what a smart book is though. Maybe after my time. Tacsop?

Now maybe you'll be able to read about not calling it an asssault rifle. Your just adding fuel to the fires of the anti's.

You could call them life savers with sights and tomorrow CNN would still have a report on killings with Life savers

I know enough to call them what they are. Calling them something else is cute and naive. The post is about correcting a malfunction. Made controversial by "experienced" users like you. You do realize that by posting a comment, you've now bumbed this "controversial" thread back up to the top of the list, right?

The U.S. military adopted the AR 15 under the designation "M16," therefore making our military the largest body of AR users in the world. What do they use them for? Shooting varmits? Nope, assaulting. Just because YOU don't have a 3 round burst or automatic setting on your AR, doesn't mean that there aren't variants out there with these options. Don't tell me what you know about ARs. Because I'm new to this forum, you're saying that I'm ignorant about firearms. It's obvious from from your posts that number of posts don't equal knowlege. Jim Zumbo??? Are you serious. I'm not calling for a ban on these rifles. Nor do I have the ears of tens of thousands of people like he did. I'm posting in hunting forum online. What I say here won't be on the cover of Guns and Ammo. Don't be a drama queen.

maybe you need to look up the legal decripetion of a assault weapon.
this is from the clinton ban(AWB). that makes alot of plan hunting gun assualt weapons.
There is nothing bad about a ar15. they make great defense guns and great target and hunting guns.
Let me tell you this all guns are made to kill people.
There is not one gun that was not designed to do just that.
So the fact the military and cops use them to kill people changed nothing.
One day along time ago we used muzzleloaders to kill people.

Semi-automatic rifles able to accept detachable magazines and two or more of the following:

[ul][*]Folding or telescoping stock[*]Conspicuous pistol grip[*]Bayonet mount[*]Flash suppressor, or threaded barrel designed to accommodate one[*]Grenade launcher (more precisely, a muzzle device which enables the launching or firing of rifle grenades) [/ul]

Semi-automatic pistols with detachable magazines and two or more of the following:

[ul][*]Magazine that attaches outside the pistol grip[*]Threaded barrel to attach barrel extender, flash suppressor, handgrip, or silencer[*]Barrel shroud that can be used as a hand-hold[*]Unloaded weight of 50 oz (1.4kg) or more[*]A semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm [/ul]

Semi-automatic shotguns with two or more of the following:

[ul][*]Folding or telescoping stock[*]Pistol grip[*]Fixed capacity of more than 5 rounds[*]Detachable magazine [/ul]
