Has anybody shot a 270 WSM alot? It sounds like a really good cartridge. I was looking at one in a Remington 7 CDL with the 22" barrel. Has anyone shot one like this? I was kinda curious about how much velocity it would lose with the 22" barrel. If anyone has any loading data on any 22" 270 wsm and would care to share it, i would appreciate it. Thanks.

I haven't shot it yet, but my brother just bought one in a Browning X Bolt so I will have some first hand experience. From what it looks like to me it is superior in ballistics to even the 300 WSM.

I asked the same question when I bougtht my 270WSM, mine is a Ruger. Load for the cartridge not for the barrel. I have had excellent accuracy with 140 gr Nosler Accubonds and Hornady SST's sitting on top of 58.5 gr of I 4350, Federal lrm primers in WW brass. MOA groups at 100 yds and that was before the trigger and bedding were taken care of. H4831 and RE19 or 22 are also good powders. Your gun may like a different load though. The nice thing about the wsm's are that you can load them down to standard speeds and not suffer in the accuracy potential.

Thanks guys. Have you guys heard of the scout concept? well if not it is basically a short handy rifle that shoots a powerful cartridge. I think that cooper was right on when he came up with the idea. I also really love the 270 bullets. Ive always been biased against the 7mm for some reason and the 30cal, well everyone in my family shoots the 30 cal. I guess im just a rebel. But i was wanting a gun in a short action shooting a nonwildcat cartridge with a shorter barrel. I was just curious about how much velocity the 270 wsm would lose in 22" barrel, if i was to go that way in a gun.
I know what u mean about the 140gr. bullets, thndrchiken. I definitely prefer those grain bullets in a 270.
