The ADL hasn't been made in a few years and Iwouldn't have thoughtany one still had any in stock. I purchased a syntheticADL in .243 for my daughters first rifle almost two years ago from Academy for $285 and it will absolutely shoot .75" groups with Federal power shock100 grain soft points.I should have bought ten of them for future project guns one day.

Both are good guns and I would be happy with either of them but, if you are paying $400 for a Remington ADL you are over paying.

I am not knocking the Savage, but I personally believe the Remington is a superior rifle. Especially ifresale value is important. The Savage does have the edge in the AccuTrigger, I will admit that. But a lot of people do not like the Accu-Trigger. I do not know why they do not like it?? But I know people who say they do not like it.

I have seen far too many 700 ADL's that are 20 or 30 or more years old, and they perform as if they were new. I have seen 30 year old Savage 110's that .............. Tom.

BB - I am glad you got a good shooter.I hope Rem gets their s**t together in the quality realm. Take a look at some of the crap they have come out with lately. Look at the 710 (theEdsel ofrifles). I am talking about Remington standard production guns. The problems form customers from minor to semi-major like fit/finish, feed problems, bedding issues, etc. I like the 700 action. And if I were to get a custom rifle built, that is the action I would use. I understand that the new 22 semi they came out with is nice and shoot good. I think its the 593 or 597??

So Mr. Loony, unless you have experience with a Savage rifles, don't knock them.
You simply couldn't pay me to own a Savage....

'Nuff said.......

Whatever works for you big guy, if you think spending more money on a rifle makes you a better hunter, and marksman, then you are far too gone. I wonder how anyone kills a deer without spending a grand on a rifle setup. I do think it's people like you who are hurting our sport, a snobbish attitude, and a "my dad can beat up your dad" kind of attitude. Since when did enjoyment become equivalent to how much money you can blow on a rifle? granted, I will not spend money on really cheap rifles, but the Savage line is not "cheap" like the Remington 710 or such, and to even make that comparison, is absurd. But its ok, keep driving less financially fortunate hunters away with your know it all attitude, after all, you spent the big bucks for the upcoming season.

So all the other large rifle companies must use Leupold and Ziess scopes on their package deals then. I haven't seen a package rifle with a decent scope ever, be it savage or remington. We all know what a great gun the remington 710 is I sure wish I would have gotten one of those instead of my Savage 16.

I would probably get a browning before a remington, but it really boils to what you prefere, they all make good rifles. About like getting a chevy, ford or dodge.

I'll be honest, if money were of no concern to me I probably wouldn't pick the savage but it is so I don't want to spend more on something that really isn't better functionally. Then again if money were no object I wouldn't get a remington either.

Thanks Commonsense - you took the words right out of my mouth.
You know how the old saying goes: Its better to keep your mouth shut and have people think you're an idiot - than to open it and remove all doubt.
I guess some other people don't follow this adage.

I'm no help. I have a Rem 700 bdl and a Savage 114 classic and they both shoot well and look good and I like both of them a lot.
