Default semi auto's for hunting

I dont know anyhing about semi auto's like the assualt looking ones.
Are theyre any that are extremely accurate ?
My current gun is a bull barrel in .243 that drives tacks at 200 yds.
Problem is I dont find myself carrying it much because of the weight. I would like to replace it with another lighter gun, but nothing moves me. I like the way a gun looks as much as how it shoots.
Nothing out there I want to replace it with except maybe an assualt type semi, but it would have to be extremely accurate, I want to be able to hit at 400 yds or so.
I'm talking 1/2" or better at a 100 yds type accuracy.

Browning BAR, is a semi auto, doesn't look like an assault rifle.....

mine in .270 is amazingly accurate.

As are many other guys BAR's from what I've read of them on here.

The term assault rifle draws fear into those poor uneducated souls. But to answer your question, yes, some are plenty accurate enough for hunting. One company boast 1 moa guarantee. And other companys like DPMS offer their rifles in various chamberings including .308 and 338 Federal.
Fact is I am contimplating getting myself a Bushmaster M4 in .223 (5.56) in the very near future.

I have owned and shot a lot of AR's. I started ground hog hunting with one last year. I do not know why I waited so long. Below is a three shot 300 yard group off the bench. Plenty of accuracy. It is pretty tough to beat the Rock River Varminter. Tom.

JMHO,But if I was going to use a semi-auto rifle for hunting it would have to be a Belgium made Browning.I feel that they are about the most accurate and the less trouble proned semi on the market .I would almost bet that there are others on here that will agree with me.............Alton

Head - that is terrible! You're 2 1/4" right and about the same high. You would think that at a mere 300 yds you could get closer to the little red dot than that!!!
And you have at least a 1/2" - 3/4" group at 300 yds. Very, very sloppy. That's no better than .17 - .25 MOA. Simply Ridiculous! You would think a black rifle would do much better than that.

I know you are just "Joshing" me, but actually that group is exactly where it should be. I have the Varmint Hunter Reticle on my AR. I have the main crosshair sighted dead on at 200 yards at 16X. At 300 yards my first crosshair down is 2 inches high at 300 yards, and my second crosshair down is 2 inches high at 400 yards. I have had to shoot the rifle a couple of hundred rounds to feel fully comfortable with the VH reticle. But now that I "know" the reticle, I really like it.

As far as the shots being to the right I was shooting in a constant left to right wind of a little less than 10 mph.

I will admit that this is a group that I could probably never produce again(because of my inability), but the rifle is scary accurate. I am currently on a streak of 18 in a row(ground hogs). And the hard part to believe is that I am shooting Black Hills factory ammo. I bought a couple of cases on closeout, I was going to shot it up for the brass. But the ammo shoots so well that I have made it my GH ammo. Tom.
