RE: Too much Kick?

Im with Matt on this 3 1/2 inch 12 gauge turkey loads are a no go for me , 3 inch are fine , 3 1/2 inch full bore loads are equal to a 416 rigby , a 375 H@H mag has far less recoil .

Well problem you can face if you are addicted to rifle brands like I am, there are few light-kickers in the group. Guess you can argue for the 240 weatherby and the 257 weatherby but after that, the recoil gets more and more noticeable. A fair number of folks cannot shoot the 300 weatherby due to recoil. Will not knock you on your a** as you put it. You actually have to get to the 338-378 before recoil becomes noticeable. How many people need a 338 valiber? probably not many and even fewer who cam manage them well. BUT, if you want to shhot long distance you need high ballistic coefficients and velocity. As Newton pointed out for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.
