Dan,

I know the feeling! At 43 things hurt way more than they used to. I started lifting at 12yo in order to get in shape for football. I wound up getting into Power lifting in high school and competedintocollege(heavyweight). I did well in my competitions and soonI was looking for that "next challenge" so I started competing in the Worlds Strongest Man competitions my last years of college and into the NFL. All that abuse (heavy lifting and football) took a serious toll on my body. I still lift but refuse to go heavy, nothing over 500lbs anymore (in any discipline) I have nothing to prove. What I DOhave is three knee surgeries, two herniated discs, multiple broken bones, torn and sprained ligaments, concussions, missing cartilage and torn lower back muscles (among other stuff). NowI just want to stay in shape and that can be achieved with light weights.

Happy belated birthday BTW and it's good to see others my age still hitting the gym and lifting. Just be smart about it keep the weights at a reasonable level and all will be good!
