Do not forget, Remington also has their own cartridge company that is part of the parent company(not like Winchester). So they probably are the largest.

I wonder if and how much of the manufacturing they are going to send overseas.


Also remember that UMC(Union Metallic Cartridge) is a Remington company. And UMC is made in Mexico. HooRay for NAFTA.

That's too close to me for comfort

It would help if Remington actually madea quality rifle. Whats up with the powder blased finish on the barrels,or the non jeweled bolts, or the bend in half composite stocks, or the model 798 made in Serbia, or the 5lb triggers, can you say 710 or 770. JUNK! Come on, where is the quality control.

Its time American gun makers take some pride in their work. Once they are putting out the quality that is expected in a europen gun, then i will buy a Remington. I dont see that happening any time soon.

I happen to own a couple of remingtons and they are quality production rifles. I will admit the 710 is junk, but the 700 REM is what all other american made production rifles are measured by. This is my opion and the quality does fall short compared to some Euro custom rifles. However, Remington is a mass production company and quality is always sacrificed in mass production. If you want quality you have to pay the extra money and most americans can't afford to pay$3000.00 for a rifle. I also own a couple of Brownings and there rifles lack as much or more in quality as Remington. You pay for what you get in the line of quality.

Well, not all Remington's are like that. Irecently purchased a Remington 700 CDL. It has a satin finish on the barrel, a jeweled bolt and a very nice satin walnut stock. These were the attributes I was searching for in my next rifle. I waspleasantly suprisedwith the stock when I got the rifle. I will admit that the trigger is a tad on the heavy side but it is not as bad I was worried it might be.

Dude, get off the Remington Koolaid... Remington CDl/XCR average price is 850 bucks Sako rifles don't sell or 3000 dollars and yes they are mass produced . The difference is they are produced by manufacturers that have a conscience and want the best product out not a bean counter driven rehash of a design that has been out almost 50 years. A Browning rifle will kick a Remingtons azz in the quality control department anytime anyday. They wish they had the QC that Browning has.
