Thisguy I know in Alaska has a cabin on an island. While driving his boat around one day he decided to go to the cabin to cut some firewood and tidy up a bit. While he was cutting wood he glanced back down to the beach a saw a brown bear walking the shoreline apporching his boat. Just then he and the bearmade eye contact and the bear started on a full sprint toward him. Well since this was an unscheduled trip to the cabin he had no key to actually get inside the cabin so he reacted andstarted running, but the bear was catching him quickly! Hejumped in full sprintin desperation on to a 55 gallon barrel and then leaped for the roof of the cabin. Just as he was almost up on the roof of the cabin the bear grabbed his leg and started to pull it just like I am pulling your leg right now.

Back on topic, the biggest thing I've ever seen killed with a 30-30 is a deer.

Ontario hunters take plenty of moose with a 30-30 every year.

This is the silliest thread ever. Everyone knows that a 30-30 is worthless on any game larger than a ground hog.

Saw on tv a guy take a buffalo/bison, neck shot, dropped it!

The host of "The One" dropped a 2000 lb. buffalo in its tracks using a .30-30.

It took 7 shots, but there was a wild hog estimated to weigh 750 lbs killed in Zachary, La with a 30-30.

There is a personal and recorded account of Wally Johnson (The Last Ivory Hunter... edited by Capstick) who for several years in his youth hunted lions with nothing but the 30/30.

Maybe so, but it COULD HAVE HAPPENED just the way you described it!

My friend and I, when we were much youngerhunted elk every year in the southern mtns. of CO. He carrried a Marlin 30-30 and I carried a Win Model 64 32 Sp. We killed just about every size elk to be found. It wasn't until years later (after Al Gore invented the internet) that I realized it was not possible.
