Default Is it worth it?

Today i got offered a brand new Winchester Model 70 22-250 with a synthetic stock, long range varmint scope, and a bipod. The lady is asking $650 for all of that. She won the rifle at a raffle but she only shoots a bow, no guns. Do you think it is worth it?

It depends on what scope it is. I saw a Winchester combo before for like $450. That was a few years ago now.

Kind of depends on what the scope is IMO. I'm no expert, but if it's a cheapo scope, I'd consider that price too high. See what some other folks on here say.

Leupold kinda help but you should figure out which model. If its a Vari-X I or II i would still kinda think its a little high. I might do it if its a Vari-X II.

I'd say it's a good deal. If the scope is worth $530, and everything is new, figure $650-530= $120. And if the rings and bases are a good brand, that's at least another $40. So you're getting a brand new heavy-barreled rifle for $80. There's no way you can but together a new varmint rig yourself for that cheap unless you buy a much lower quality scope. I say go for it. If you don't like it, I'd bet you part it out and make at least $100 off the whole deal.

Here, look at this. I'm assuming this is the same rifle you're looking at buying (the stealth). The guy wants $650 for the rifle alone with no scope or bases. For the price you're being offered the gun, you're basically getting a $530 scope and $40 rings and bases for free.

I agree. It does depend a little bit on which model 70 it is.... I'm assuming its a heavy barreled model? Even at that though, the scope is worth a fair piece, though I don't remember seeing an FX varmint scope... certain doesn't mean it does not exist.... It sounds to me like its a song and you could certainly recoup your investment if you didn't like the set up once you get it home.
