Default What can I expect?

I'll be getting in a 15" encore barrel in 22-250 sometime this week, along with the dies, brass and bullets needed for feeding it. I've never fiddled with so small a caliber before. What can I expect? I'm hoping to use it on these Alabama 'yotes...

I expect that you have a 100% chance of loading/reloading 22-250 cartridges in the next 14 days.

That depends greatly... all I can say is I wish you better than my rifle shot... which still ain't sayin much. Seems case dependant.... who built the barrel?

It's gonna be loud. Really loud. And it'll probably spit somehuge flames out the barrel. Really huge.

You'll need to do extensive experimenting with loads for best accuracy so get several different powders/bullets/ primers. A slightly faster burning powder will work better as opposed to rifle barreled length loads. After you find a great load from SOLID rest and good benchrest skills SHOULD net you 1/2 moa out to 300 yards. Good optics will also make or break accuracy so put the best scope you can afford on it.

O.k. That's a start. I have a Burris 2x7 with the Ballisti- plex and posilock that I had on my 30-06 15" Encore that I am going to mount onto this barrel. I don't suppose that the recoil will be as severe off the bench as the '06, which is why I traded for it in the first place.
Our local range is but 100 yards, so I'll have to dig deep and see where I'll need to have the groups @100 so they'll be usable farther on out....

Anyone heard of the 221 Fireball? But forget the fire. Buy some VERY good ear protection.

Wouldn't be without ear protection, even when hunting.... The barrel is a stock T/C...
I'm probably going to wait to shoot itafter my wife's surgery, which is on the 3rd, bit I may slip out and pop off one round....

I have handguns in 221 , 22-250 and 308. The 308 is by far the loudest and produces the largest fireball
