I'm grown but I bought a ruger compact in 223 just for coyote hunting and I love it,these little guns,scope and all weigh around 7lbs.I bought my daughter a rem. model 700SPS youth rifle and it is a good gun but it seems a little fore end heavy for a child,it will shoot good though,I shot a doe at a ranged 368 yards this year with it and the 243 federal fusion put it on her,she didnt know what hit her,these are some suggestions,any of the guns mentioned on this subject would be a good choice.
