7mm-08
Would like to purchase a youth model 7mm-08. Can't decide on Brownings
Micro Medallion or Remingtons Model 7 youth. Any Input? |
RE: 7mm-08
I went with the Remington mountain rifle just because I thought the Browning was just too pretty to drag thrugh the woods. Both will do the job

RE: 7mm-08
They are both great rifles. You really can't lose either way.
I'm partial to Brownings for no reason imparticular. Go with either, you'll be happy. |
RE: 7mm-08
Savage makes a youth model 7mm-08 with a comped barrel.

RE: 7mm-08
As stated earlier both are good rifles. But also, so is the Savage 11FYCAK. I got one for my grandson in 7-08 and it is a real shooter. Besides having the shorter stock it also has a muzzle brake (adjustable) and a detachable magazine.

RE: 7mm-08
I bought my 12 year old son a Ruger Hawkeye All Weather 7mm-08 last year and he took his first deer with it. I think it's avery nice rifle.

I believe you might be thinking about the Micro Hunter ... not the Micro Medallion, as they ( Browning )stopped making the Micro Medallion about 15 or so years ago. If you have found a Micro Medallion , I would jump on it... Other wise I also have a Rem. Model 7 and it is a great gun and the 7mm-08 is a particularly good deer round. I use mine more than just about any other gun for deer.
As another option, the Ruger M77 Compact is a super little gun. I bought the stainless / laminate in .243 and I love it. A 7mm-08 in that gun would be SWEET. But with any of the three, you cannot go wrong. I own one of each and they are all well made, fine shooting rifles. |
RE: 7mm-08
Ruger compact in 7mm08.. Check it out with the 16.5 inch barrel and 1 inch shorter LOP..

RE: 7mm-08
I like the action better on a Savage 7-08 than the Remington and they are of about the same price. If it is between the Rem. and the Browning, I would take the Browning.

RE: 7mm-08
I bought my daughter a 7-08 in the Rem. Model 7. Sweet little gun and the trigger was set very well. If this is for a youth then you may want to reload some ammo with reduced loads. Factory 140 grain ammo had a fair amount of recoil. I ended up loading up some reduced loads using H4895 and 120 gr Nosler BT which shoot like a dream and did a number on the doe she shot last year.
