I tried the .270 Managed Recoil loads in my son's Rem 700 and was unable to get them to shoot below 2.5".

Thanks Wayspr,

What range were you shooting at?

Thanks,

This thread sounds like a good excuse to go out and buy a 243..

They are designed for deer sized game out to say 150 yards. And for light framed shooters say kids just starting out so their not afraid of recoil and learn to shoot/hunt well. A youngster just starting of may only need to shoot these a season or two than the standard loads will work fine. Its on par with the new 6.8mm rem same 115gr bulletsin the Rem loads. Federal loads a 150gr bullet design for the 30-30win in their ammo. Its a great idea to buyone gun a youngster can grow into or to just barrow a comment gun to start with.

If this is for a adultwho is very recoil shy there are better cartrdiges like the 7mm08, 260rem, 257roberts, 243win, or for just close in the 35rem, 44mag are all mild for recoil in a rifle.

cjwink,
I seriously was thinking of the 243 but would like them to have a rifle better suited for moose in a few years.

Thanks all, the decision has been made and it is a pair of Ruger M77 MK II's in 270. One is in the safe and another is on order.

Thanks again all.
