I seriously was thinking of the 243 but would like them to have a rifle better suited for moose in a few years.

Thanks all, the decision has been made and it is a pair of Ruger M77 MK II's in 270. One is in the safe and another is on order.

I understand.. Since there are no moose in MS..I don't have to worry about that near as much.. [:@]
