Depends on what dangerous game you are talking about. A mountain lion is a dangerous game animal but a 243 will drop him fast.

A Grizzly is dangerous game and I wouldn't touch one with less then a 338, and the same goes for African Game.

It all depends on what you consider dngerous gme. I usa a 300 WSM for everything i hunt. But ihave never hunted Grizzley or Brown Bears. For them i would go with a 338 Mag minimum but would like to go for a 338 Ultra Mag or 338 Laupua Ma for them. Ive also never hunted in Africa for anything but if i was going to a 375 H&H would be a minimum for dangerous game there but i would prefer atleast a 416 Rigby. Some people around here consider black bear dangerous game. I know people that have killed them with a 25-06 and 270.

I just bought a 375 H&H, and a 44 magnum as a backup gun. I would rather be over gunned than under gunned any day of the week!

What is the definition of "dangerous game"? I have never been myself, but I know guys go to Africa and shoot everything with a 9.3x62. That being said, I have a 9.3x62 for my Blaser R-93, so I guess that would be my "dangerous game" rifle.

Dangerous game in my book is Grizzly,Brown bear,Polar Bear, the African big five,Asian tiger(can't be hunted anyway) anone of which I would be happy to tackle without a very reliable firearm and certainly something larger then a 30-06(although I hear the 22 hornet will do in a pinch).

375 or 458 should handle most dangerous game in north America shouldn't it? There a local guy has a Browning Safari grade 458f/s for $1000! Anybody want me to pick it up for them?

I don't need one or another one really I have a 375 and 458 pre 64 super grade already, can only afford so much abuse! If I had to hunt with the 458 the floor plate would be welded shut! If I was in situation I needed that caliber it would be ugly to pull the trigger and end up with a single shot![8D]
