.375H&H works for NA and africa, so it would be the min I'd select for the task. However the .416 rigby if african dangerous game werethe primary consideration.

I don't consider Moose - dangerous game. Personallyharvested themusing a:recurve bow, compound bow,50 cal muzzleloader, 270 win, 7mm rem mag, 300 wby and 338wm. The closest I have ever shot a bull moose was 11steps using my compound bow. They are BIG don't get me wrong, however BIG TREE FALL HARD, beenmy experience when it comes to moose.

You can say the same about the 9.3x62mm, and it one gets "meat" on one end of the gun.

Thats true, the 9.3x62 is the minimum for African DG, along with the .375 H&H

9.3 is only 36 caliber and I believe most places have a 37 caliber minimum on DG.

IF you are talking about the "big five" in Africa (Cape Buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion & leopard) if you are the hunter with a PH backing you up, I'd use a .375 like the H&H or Ruger, or a .416 such as the .416 Rigby. For a stopping rifle, nothing under .45 caliber qualifies, and bigger is better, except the leopard does not require an elephant stopper.

For Kodiak, Polar, and big grizzlies, I think the .338 Win. and similar rounds with premium bullets are sufficient, but I'd use my .375 H&H or .416 Rigby for 1000-pound and up bears!

The .30/'06 with heavy premium bullets will kill (and has killed!!) anything on earth with one shot. BUT you must be a superb marksman, AND YOU MUST KNOW YOUR QUARRY'S ANATOMY VERY INTIMATELY, IN ORDER TO KNOW JUST EXACTLY WHERE THE BULLET MUST HIT!! The Inuit kill polar bears with the .22 Hornet and .223 Remington. Jack O'Connor's wife used a .30/'06 to kill her elephant. Bell killed over 800 elephant with a 7X57mm Mauser (275 Rigby).

My recommendation: use the biggest, most powerful rifle you can shoot well. Big bullets don't work if they miss.

Per normal... I cannot say it any better than eld can.

.375 at a minimum with a PH backing you up with something usually MUCH bigger.

I agree wit hthe 45/70 rounds from buffalo bore or garrett.Those two rounds are awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just use the higher grain loads

I bought a .338 Lapua for my any game in North America Gun. I am told by folks that have been to Africa, at lest for some game a .375 is the minimum by law. I am fairly certain that was for cape buffalo, but I am sure that it apples to some others as well.
