Hey T/C lovers . . . got a question!
I have the older Contender and love it!
But just how different is the Encore frome compared to the Contender?
T/C will tell you one thing, but I want to know from you guys that are not biased one way or the other.
I mean, my one barrel is a 14" 30-30 for christ sake. Now if that wouldn't blow up a frame!?
Are the differences substantial design and material/craftmanship differences? Or more sales hype?
"You need to own both".

RE: Hey T/C lovers . . . got a question!
I own several contender pistols and one Encore rifle. The differences are like night and day. Contender will only work with pressures around 45,000 psi. 30-30, 35 Rem, 223, etc. The encore can handle just about anthing. 308, 30-06, 300 WM You get the picture.
The factory grips on the Encore pistol make it very uncomfortable to shoot for me because I do not have very large hands and I cannot get a good feel of the trigger. That is why I do not have one.
The Contender is capable of killing anything that you want to hunt with the right chambering. I have a 375 JDJ and I would not hesitate to shoot anything with it.
So if you like the Contender and do not mind reloading then there would be no reason to buy an Encore unless of course you wanted one.

There is also a few internal differences too. With the old contender, if you cocked the hammer and then let it down, you would have to open the action. With the encore you don't have to. You can cock, let down, recock.

I have a Contender pistol in 44 mag and 223.. I wanted to get a 308 barrell for it and get a Rifle stock also, but they just don't make a lot ofthe more popular calibers.. So therefore I have an Encore in 308..
