Looks like I'll be picking up a couple of .270s. Both Remmingtons. One a 700, the other a 721. I'd like to make one more of a youth model for my small framed girls. They can handle the weight of a full sized rifle, but struggle with the length. Are there any shorter than stock, aftermarket stocks available?

You can always find a couple used stocks and cut them down to fit. My question is, are they going to be able to handle the recoil, the .270 is a pretty good kicker to start, shorting them up is going to take some more weight off of them and increase the felt recoil.

For the 13 year old, recoil won't be a problem. She is tough and also larger framed than her older sister. The 16 year old is a bit prissy and much lighter built. I mainly want a .270 in case the younger one wants to hunt elk next year. I have a youth model .243 that they both have used for antelope. If I end up cutting one down, I made add a bit of weightin the butt of the stock and, of course, aquality recoil pad.
