RE: Remington model 710 7mm
Another Rem 710 thread...
LET'S GET READY TO RUMMMMMBLLLLE!
The Remington M710 is the disposable razor of rifles. They are crude but functional economy rifles that will get you through a few hunting seasons if you don't shoot it much, but it'll have little residual value. Once it's shot out or it anything breaks, you might as well find the nearest dumpster cause it's not worth rebarrelling or fixing. As far as a sticky bolt, what can one reasonably expect from a <$300 repeater. I've not yet seen the new 770, but I imagine that the "improvements" still don't make it worth spending ones hard earned money on when there are bolt-actions out there like the Stevens that are MUCH better rifles for similar money. I hope your rifle works out for you. I don't mean to bash you, but you're in a live-and-learn situation here.
Good luck to your,
Mike

I got a Tikka T3 Stainless Lite for $608. The regular Tikka T3 Hunter i can get for $506. A new Remington SPS around here is going for $630. I looked in 7 different gun shops for one and they all were between $600 and $700. I have a Tikka with a silver 3x-9x Nikon Buckmasters scope on it i payed $753.96 with taxes.

Wow. The 700 SPS is on sale at Academy here in Houston for $399. Regular price is $429. Downside is they only stock .243, .270, .30-06, and 7mm Rem Mag. I don't know what they charge if they have to special order one chambered for some other cartridge.

I thought when they changed to the metal receiver they also renamed it as the Model 770.
ORIGINAL: DannyD
That being said if you have a new 710, i was under the impression that the gun now has a metal receiver.

ips,
That is quite possible. I had a 710 and thought for some reason i had seen an ad that showed the new ones with a metal receiver. It could have been that it was the 770 though

I bought a brand newSPS stainless for $479.00 (before taxes) from Carter's Country last year.Ive heard a lot about the price increase in Remington firearms recently, but I didnt think they got to 600+ for a basic SPS. Academy online has it listed for 459 for an SPS without any specials or deals.
