RE: AR-15 ?'s

I did some looking for flat upper receivers that I'd be able to mount a scope on. I saw some for $450 and I saw some for $100. Are the $100 ones to good to be true?

If it is to good to be true, then I'd probably try to get one with a low-pro so I could just mount a scope on right away.

Just to clarify, there are to my knowlegde, 2 other calibers upper receivers that you can mount on a regular AR-15 lower. the .50 beowolf, and the 6.5 or 6.8 I can't remember on the 6. caliber. I do know though it was designed to be able to just swap out the upper and use the same size magazine as the 5.56 for miltary purposes. The .50 beowolf, base of the cartridge is the same size as a 5.56 so there is nothing to change but the upper. Magazine size is the same as well.
if you choose not to get an upper with a flat top receiver, there is a scopw mount made for the carry handle of an AR-15. If you look at the carry handle, there is a hole drilled trough it. The mount fits right into the top of the carry handle with a bolt that extends down through the hole and a thumb tighten nut that goes on it. Though I would still recommend getting the flat top upper.

Yes, the $100 ones are most likely just the reciever, no barrel or forearm, and no bolt and charging handle...

Here is a link to a page that has some wildcat options for building your AR15.

Bigtim - When people say 7.62 that refers to 308. So what are you trying to say? I think you are trying to say 7.62x39.....But I may be wrong..

Yip, because just to name a few, you could get a .17 rem., .204, 6.8 SPC, .243 WSSM, or a .300 Fireball. All built on the AR15 frame.

Don't forget the .50 Beowolf or the new 450 bushmaster either.

RE: AR-15 ?'s

I'm looking at going towards the route of buying an upper and lower receiver separately. I want to get the more traditional looking stock and with a flat upper for a scope mount.

Two questions. I read somewhere that you can save money by doing this, is that true?

Also, is it very difficult to put them together?

Ar's are sold as longguns but in Calf you have to make sure you dont have any 16 parts in the triger mech,I know Bushmaster has a break down of what parts need to be replaced but once again not all 15's have these parts in them.
BATF's states that if your AR15 has a M16 component,its a machine gun..
i.e.
different j pin
safety selector
trigger
disconnector
bolt carrier
alot of the part numbers are very close so you need to check this out realy good if getting one in Calf.
NFA need not worry....
