Get the 22 mag.. it's the "much" better choise for animials as big as coyotes... These days there's choises in mag. ammo for every animial up to and including coyotes! The heavier bullet of the 22 Win. mag. is superior to the 17HMR on bigger animials...

A 10/22 is a Ruger semi auto rifle that fires 22 LR ammo..

We all can kill elephants if we use 50 BMG's....you can also kill larger game with small caliber rifles/handgunsbut its what your comfortable shooting, what your shooting confidence is, which gun you feel more connected to and which will fulfill your ultimate needs. Some people prefer .243's for deer, others want .308's, there is no wrong choice (without taking into consideration of overall quality of the piece your looking at) its what you like and feel confident with. Best advice i can give is to go shoot a few different ones, different calibers etc etc....then make that decision based off what your feelings are. They will all kill...& everyone will have their own likes / dislikes..

i have no experience with rifles whats so ever. we have to use shotuns for deer here in ohio

I'd suggest going to your local gunshop an talking with someone there. They should be able to point you in the right direction, and have all the makes/models of guns you might be interested in.

Iwould look at several different models and see which one you like the best. Any of the guns from Marlin would be really nice.

.22 LR (Long Rifle) is the most common ammunition in 22 caliber.
.22 Mag is another 22 caliber ammunition, but it has a longer shell and therefore contains more powder and shoots the bullet at a higher velocity.
.17 HMR is a .22 mag casing that has been necked down to 17 caliber. It is even faster than .22 mag but shoots a lighter 17 caliber bullet.

All of the above are rimfire.

The Ruger 10/22 is a semi-auto rifle in 22 caliber. It can be found in eith .22 LR or .22 Mag.

The Savage 93 is a bolt-action rifle in .17 HMR. The Savage Mark II is essentially the same rifle in .22 LR.

Im really sorry about me asking all these questions. So 1st off would reccommend the .22 magnum or the .17 HMR?
2nd off what brand and model would you reccommend for yotes in a gun not much more than 200 dollars?
