I would handle all of them to see what fits you. Guns are like underwear. If you get the wrong size it may rub you raw. So with that being said there are plenty of options like Remington,Mossberg and many others. Have somebody help you with the fit.

Do you want to shoot slugs or buckshot? Probably the best bang for your buck will be the New England Firearms Ultra Slug. Should be around $250+/- (I forget how much I paid for mine) and with a scope and good ammo (Lightfield slugs) you can expect to shoot groups that make some rifle shooters jealous.

H&R makes the same gunalso.Infact, they may be made by the same company. Not sure if it's NEF or H&R though.

Most of them are H&R Ultra's, I have seen a few NEF's though. They are the same exact gun. NEF/H&R are the same company and they are owned by Marlin now.

If you want something with some versatility get a mossberg 500 or remington 870 in the combo model with a cantilever scope barrel. This way you have a bird barrel and a rifled slug barrel with a scope mount. You can get them for under 400 bucks.

I own the 535 and it is truely a great gun. I got the combo with the 28in barrel and the rifled slug barrel with open sites. Took a deer this year with it at 100yrds. Good luck with your search.

LOOK TOWARDS THE A REMINGTON 870 IT WILL BECOME ANY TYPE OF SHOTGUN YOU NEED WITH A SIMPLE BARREL CHANGE.

OR A MOSSBERG 500 IT HAS ALMOST AS MANY VARIATIONS AS THE 870.
