Default 00 buck w/ full choke

i had a buddy aske if he could shoot 00 buck out of a 12 ga with a full choke,i told him that i wouldnt do it because it could cause barrel bulge and it might deform pellets and mess up his pattern,he says im wrong and i very well maybe. what do yall think? thx in advance

Big Green said it was safe. But I was skeptical to do alot of shooting with 00.

I ended up patterning a shotgun with several chokes and found full to produce the worse pattern. I find in that 870 that modified or improved cylinder to be better for patterns at 40 yards.

I havn't 00 on deer in 8-10 years. Everybody should pattern the shotgun before hunting.

+1

It is perfectly safe but depending on the wad and makeup of the cartridge some tolerate a FC more then others...you'll probably end up using IC or M

My experiences have been similar in that full choke gave the worst pattern of any other choke. I have a Patternmaster choke that I use for buckshot, but of my flush mount chokes, modified patterns the best for me out of my Benelli M1 Super 90 with a 21" barrel.

Plus one more.

Full choke is just fine and won't harm the gun one bitbut 00 buck shot will usually pattern better with a more open choke.

Buckshot does best with the least choke. It is not like a tall column of small birdie shot that can be shaped.
