two shotgun questions
one what are the odd you drop a deer at 40 yards out with a 12ga shotgun with in 40 yards and droping one where it stands
also is 50 yard to far to shoot a deer with a smooth bore with out a scope with a rifled slug with say 3inch groups

the first question it depends, usally a long shot dosnt drop instantly USUALLY.
the second question 50 yards 3 inch groups sure why not, that is plenty for a deer.

Depends on the hit I have seen guy's make a shot on deer and drop them where they stand,then the exact same shot the deer runs for 200yds.
As for your second question with a three inch group at 50yds take the shot but I
wouldn't stretch it out much further.
