general season with any weapon

do you guys think it would hurt the deer herds if they made it a general season like Oct to Jan for nay weapon legal for use in your state
i would rather get to hunt all season with what ever i wonted even if i Had to drop my bag limit
or they could offer a more costly general license with a lower bag limit

What?
My home state has a general season from August-January anyway. And we are rotten with deer. So much so that we have permits to shoot them year round.
Just depends on your deer herd... it can hurt them. I'll say this much... having guns in the woods for a long period of time makes the deer awfully spooking... and makes hunting very very tough. Just look at all the big deer killed in the mid-west. Its SO much easier to kill deer (and big deer) out there because they are only hunted one month or often only one week out of the year.

Here in NC, bow season opens in September, usually around the 10th...
Muzzleloading starts about Oct 10th down east and November 10 in the Piedmont...Muzzleloading runs a week and then the general gun season
runs until January 1st...In addition, we have unlimited doe tags in NC this
year, I've already killed 7 does and one buck...
So, no, starting the season in September and running through January won't affect the herds...Once most guys have skinned and butchered 5-6 deer, they are through for the season anyway...

In MI we have a one month archery season, then a 2 week gun season, where you can hunt with anything up to a gun that is legal in your area. I live in lower MI so I can't use a center fire rifle, just shotgun or muzzle loader. But you can use a handgun, bow or crossbow if you want. Then in December we have a muzzle loader only season and you can only use an inline or traditional muzzle loader. We also have a late bow only season I think, I would have to look at the book for that one.
