My home state has a general season from August-January anyway. And we are rotten with deer. So much so that we have permits to shoot them year round.

Just depends on your deer herd... it can hurt them. I'll say this much... having guns in the woods for a long period of time makes the deer awfully spooking... and makes hunting very very tough. Just look at all the big deer killed in the mid-west. Its SO much easier to kill deer (and big deer) out there because they are only hunted one month or often only one week out of the year.
