cutting of stock
I just bought a savage 110 with a sytheic stock. My problem is my scope is too far forward and I have to put my face to far forward to be comfordabale. The scope is as far back as it will go. Can the sythetic stock be cut off shorter, if so how much,or is there a better solution for this problem. If you cut of the stock what type of a saw would you use? Thanks for all the good advise that I get on this sight!

RE: cutting of stock
..if you can, instead of cutting your stock buy a scope with more eye relief, this will bring you back on the stock, and you can see your scope good......

RE: cutting of stock
Rem 222 is right...They are hollow. If you have a solid synthetic stock, no problem. Just put masking tape where you want to cut...mark it...and cut. The tape keeps the edges from splintering.
If it's hollow, you will be better off to get a shorter stock or find another solution.

RE: cutting of stock
totoe hit the nail on the head . if you cut the stock more than likely it will come back and kiss you on the browe . I have first hand
experience with this subject . The only way I can explained it is to look through the scope after you get full view have some one measure the distance between your browe and the scope . now move the scope one way or the other and repeat . wola you still have the same distance between your browe and the scope . if you cut the stock it now will not be snug against your shoulder and thats how it happens . I guarantee you will never forget the hunt when this happens . My grandfather came over to me and said it looks like the deer faired better than you did
I bleed like a stuffed pig .
another one of the old tales was to take the gun and put your trigger finger on the trigger then lay the stock in the fold of your elbow & arm if you couldn't reach the trigger or if your finger came off the triger the stock is to long .
