Default ALL NEW cartridge!

First,I want yall to remember you heard it here first,by ME. I'm going to design a new cartridge or 3 by necking down the .375 ruger case down to either 6.5mm/.270/7mm/.30/.325/.338 depending on how many actions, barrels, and stocks I can scrape up. As yall know well,I'm kinda partial to 7mm diameter bullets. I'm going to ask yall to chime in and give your opinion on which caliber I should build as very first one to neck down to.
I really believe this will make a heck of a cartridge with good accuracy, substantial velocity increase over 7mm rem or 300 win,all while fitting nicely in standard length action.

SB,

I'm interested in your test.

I would wonder why this hasn't been done before. Maybe looking to see what others have learned about this combo might help.

My vote would be 7.5mm.

I would say 30 caliber. There isnt anything that cannot be taken with that caliber and with that large of a case behind that bullet it should be pretty deadly.

I agree with ya but I see the ruger case as being a lot easier to obtain these days. I've built wildcats before all the way up to .416 rigby case.

I like 7mm stuff, so that is my vote. Keep me updated because my next rifle is probably going to be something in 7mm...

Good luck in your adventure stalkingbear, I am sure there are several wildcatters that are way ahead as well as Hornady . Those that were privy to the 375 Ruger case before hitting the public jumped on it for sure. Other than being more efficient it's not going to do anything that isnt already available. Personally I would wait it out and see what Hornady comes out with in the future, could save time and money investing in custom reamers, dies head space gaugesetc.

I think it would make a good .338 and .323 round, but it uses too much powder for the bores under .30. There are already too many overbore cases in .30, 7mm, and 6.5mm. Maybe .277" needs one, though.

I would do a 7mm or bigger. It would be a heck of a bear/elk gun in .325 or .338, and a powerful choice for elk/deer in 7mm or .308.

I vote for .416, you just never know when a cape buffalo will wonder through the parking lot at Wal-Mart.
