HR Buffalo classic 45-70
#2

I have a couple of them and they are good shooters. I started out shooting Black Powder loads and some smokeless loads that mirrored the old 500 grain Black Powder loads. Mine shoot good with a405 Grain Government cast bullet and 13.5 grains of Unique powder with a WW Magnum rifle primer. This load is at about 1150-1200 fps and shoots good groups. The sights that come on the rifle are good to about 275-300 yards. At that point some type of ladder sight may be needed. No filler or wads are needed for the Unique load and the recoil is not bad either. Many ream these out to 45-90 and 45-120 but your shoulder will pay the price for that conversion. I just got a new one two days ago to replace one I sold earlier and that one has not been fired yet. I also picked up the Buffalo classic in 45 lC that came out this year. Man thats a fun rifle to shoot. I loaded some 160 grain cast bullet with six grains of Tit Group. Its about like shooting a 22 Hornet. Fun and cheap to shoot. Loaded with Heavy jacked bullets like the 300 grain XTP, it would thump about anything that got in the way. You can even get cast bullets up around 400 grains for the LC. Now all I need is the BC in 38-55.
. I may just send in one of the 45-70"s for the additional barrel in 38-55. I think they are about 110 dollars.

James, I have a load for the Lazer Cast 350 flat nose and Blue Dot powder that you may want to try, I measure it with the 1.9cc Lee powder dipper.
I use CCI 200 primers and like you said no fillers, arround 1350 fps and very accurate and mild. Glenn
